Experience Etla’s Muerteada, a community celebration in which comparsas, bands, dancing and masked characters fill the streets on the night of November 1.
The tour visits Santiaguito and Soledad Etla with transportation from Oaxaca’s Zócalo, a coordinator and bilingual guide. It is a busy festive night with a variable finish time.

A day to remember
01Meet at the Zócalo
Meet at 8:00 p.m., greet the coordinator and receive guidance for enjoying the celebration safely and respectfully.
02Santiaguito Etla
Encounter the first comparsas, costumes, bands and processions through the community streets.
03Soledad Etla
Continue among music, dance and traditional characters that bring the Muerteada to life.
04Community celebration
Time to observe and accompany the festivities; mezcal is offered to adults as part of the experience.
05Return to Oaxaca
The group returns in the early morning, and timing may change as the comparsa unfolds.
